DC Labs Marine Carotene is a carotenoid supplement that can help to boost the immune system. Carotenoids give fruits and vegetables their colorful pigments, and they can help to fight viruses and free radicals.

Dee Cee Labs Marine Carotene is a natural Betatine and is a carotenoid supplement.

Carotenoids are the principal pigments responsible for the red, orange, yellow and green colors of vegetables and fruits. Beta-carotene is responsible for the color of carrots. Beta-carotene along with alpha-carotene, lycopene, lutein, zeaxanthin and beta-cryptoxanthin are the principal dietary carotenoids. Three of these carotenoids, alpha-carotene, beta-carotene and beta-cryptoxanthin, can serve as dietary precursors of retinol (all-trans retinol, vitamin A). Collectively, these carotenoids are called provitamin A carotenoids or pro-vitamin A.
Dietary carotenoids that are not converted into retinol (lutein, zeaxanthin, lycopene) are referred to as non-pro-vitamin A carotenoids. Carrots are the major contributors of beta-carotene in the diet. Beta-carotene is also found in cantaloupe, broccoli, spinach and collard greens. Palm oil, which is used as a food colorant, is rich in beta-carotene as well as alpha-carotene. Dietary intake of beta-carotene in the American diet ranges from 1.3 to 2.9 milligrams daily. The consumption of five or more servings of fruits and vegetables per day, which is recommended by a number of federal agencies and other organizations, including the National Cancer Institute would provide 3 to 6 milligrams daily of beta-carotene.
Beta-carotene is considered a conditionally essential nutrient. Beta-carotene becomes an essential nutrient when the dietary intake of retinol (vitamin A) is inadequate. It is unclear whether beta-carotene has any biological function for humans other than as a precursor for vitamin A. There is some evidence that beta-carotene may play a beneficial role in human nutrition beyond its pro-vitamin A function. Beta-carotene has antioxidant activity, at least in vitro, and it may enhance inter-cellular communication and may have immunomodulatory and anti-carcinogenic activities in certain circumstances.

Carotenoids are made up of alpha-carotene, beta-carotene, lycopene, lutein, zeaxanthin, and beta-cryptoxanthin. These carotenoids are important to the body, and alpha-carotene, beta-carotene, and beta-cryptoxanthin are precursors for Vitamin A. The body needs carotenoids to build Vitamin A within the body. Vitamin A is a valuable nutrient, and it can be used to help maintain healthy vision.

Carotenoids help to strengthen the immune system's first defenses. The skin is the body's first defense against disease and bacteria. The skin is largely responsible for what enters the body, and carotenoids help the skin to keep out harmful diseases and bacteria. Carotenoids also help to maintain the linings of the digestive and respiratory system. These linings are also used by the body to keep diseases from further entering the body. Carotenoids can also help to improve the immune system by strengthening disease-fighting white blood cells.

Carotenoids also help to promote normal cellular growth, and they help to maintain intercellular communication. Some carotenoids also act as antioxidants in the body. Antioxidants fight the formation of free radicals, which is important because free radicals can lead to premature aging or even cancer. Free radicals are created within the body through oxidation, and once they are created they can interfere with cellular activity. They interact with the cells, and free radicals can alter cellular DNA. Once the DNA is altered the cells either become damaged or they die.

Carotenoids are important to the body, because they can be a precursor for Vitamin A. Carotenoids also help to promote proper cellular function, and they can fight the formation of free radicals. DC Labs Marine Carotene can help to deliver your body the carotenoids it needs most.
