The Importance of Natural Makeup

makeupAs if you needed any more reasons to try the great chemical free products at EarthTurns.com, a new study has emerged that links the use of common cosmetic products to diabetes. Every day millions of people use shampoos, soaps, makeup, and other cosmetic products that contain potentially harmful chemicals, like sodium lauryl sulfate and parabens. People have been warned about phthalates for years. Phthalates can cause dysfunction within the immune system, birth defects, and new research has shown that they may significantly increase the risk of diabetes.

The Study

Brigham and Women’s Hospital conducted a study on phthalates, and they tested over 2000 women. The study tested the amount of phthalates within the women’s urine, and it showed that women with high levels of phthalates were more likely to have diabetes. Women with high levels ofeccobella-lipstick-2094_2 mono-benzyl phthalate and mono-isobutyl phthalate doubled their risk of diabetes. Mono-3-carboxypropyl phthalate had a 60% increase in the risk for diabetes, and even more alarming mono-n-butyl phthalate and di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate increased the risk of diabetes by 70%. The dangers of phthalates are obvious, but what is even more disturbing is that phthalates can be found in many of the medications and equipment that are used to treat diabetes.

It is important for you to avoid the chemicals found in cosmetic products that are sold nationwide. Consumers have been warned about phthalates, but new research has exposed a new risk. Phthalates are now linked to an increase in the risk of diabetes, so it is now even more important to avoid phthalates. Chemical-free personal care products are more important than ever.
