Burdock root which is also known as gobo or "Poor-man's potatoes", has been an essential food in Japan because of its numerous healing properties. Burdock root was used throughout Europe, India and China to treat respiratory disorders, abscesses, joint pain, urinary problems and to overcome serious health challenges by stimulating cellular regeneration, detoxification and cleansing.
Up to 75% of the root is made up of complex carbohydrates known as fructooligosaccharides (FOS). Clinical studies have shown that intake of FOS significantly increases beneficial bifidobacteria within the gastrointestinal tract and eliminates bacterial pathogens. This eventually stimulates the immune system and successfully suppresses aberrant cell growth. The high levels of FOS in burdock root and also help to keep blood sugar levels constant and reduce hyperglycemia.
Burdock root also contains at least five powerful flavonoid-type antioxidants that are more powerful antioxidants than vitamin C.

Olive leaf: In the 1850's, medical reports detailed how Olive Leaves cured cases of malaria. In fact, in an 1854 report in the Pharmaceutical Journal a healing recipe was provided: "A handful of leaves boiled in a quart of water down to half its original volume. A wine glassful was then administered until the fever was cured." This method was said to be extremely popular in England to treat those sick individuals returning from the tropical colonies.
In 1962, a scientific paper written by an Italian researcher revealed that the chemical constituent "oleuropein" had the capacity to decrease blood pressure in animals. Additional European researchers confirmed this finding and discovered that oleuropein, that active ingredient in the olive leaf can also increase blood flow in the coronary arteries, relieve arrhythmias and prevent intestinal muscle spasms. During this same period of time, other investigators found that elenolic acid was the most potent constituent within oleuropein. The Europeans found that the elenolic acid had a powerful anti-bacterial effect. In the late 1960's, research by scientists at a major American pharmaceutical company showed that elenolic acid also inhibited the growth of viruses.DC Labs Formula 571 is a synergistic blend consisting mainly of Echinacea and Goldenseal.
