"People have been using garlic in meal preparation and as a supplement for centuries. It has been known that there are many health benefits of garlic. Finally, researchers have shown that what folks have known for years is true. More than twelve excellently designed clinical studies have been published around the world that confirm that garlic in can reduce cholesterol levels. Out of the 37 studies, 28 studies showed evidence that garlic can prevent cancer. The evidence is particularly strong in prevention of prostate and stomach cancers. Many of these studies also showed positive benefits of garlic in heart disease, specifically by lowering total cholesterol, the bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides. Another benefit of garlic is its ability to possibly lower high blood pressure. Other studies also revealed that garlic can have antibiotic and antifungal effects. We want to point out that there were also a number of studies showing conflicting results. Despite of the conflicting results of some studies, results of the majority of the clinical studies seemed to show promising benefits of garlic in heart disease for its ability of lowering blood cholesterol and anti-clogging blood vessels. Be cautious if you are taking garlic supplements and blood thinners such as aspirin and warfarin at the same time.
