Description
"Oral supplementation of calcium-D-glucarate has been shown to inhibit an enzyme that is produced by bacteria in the colon called beta-glucuronidase. This enzyme is essential for proper liver detoxification. It has been shown that elevated beta-glucuronidase activity is associated with an increased risk of several forms of cancer, particularly hormone dependent cancers such as breast, prostate, and colon cancers. Oral calcium-D-glucarate is also helpful in the regulation of estrogen metabolism and as a lipid-lowering agent.
Research with animals have revealed that supplementing with calcium D-glucarate prevents the occurrence of experimentally induced cancers. The studies used amounts of calcium D-glucarate that would be too much for humans to take.
