Benefits of Collagen in Joint Health
Collagen is the common structural protein found in all animals. Collagen makes up approximately one third of the total body protein and is its major structural component. It is located in the connective tissue, providing strength and form, while at the same time promoting mobility. Collagen hydrolysate may therefore serve as a building block for the regeneration and synthesis of joint cartilage. The main source of collagen is from the extraction of the bones and skin of animals. In fact gelatin, as found in our Formula 659, contains 2 amino acids that are needed to make collagen. Collagen hydrolysate is a purified polypeptide of differing chain lengths, that are isolated from animal derived collagen by chemical, physical or biochemical hydrolysis and has been shown to be very effective in the treatment of joint problems.
