What is the difference between 'Chemical' and 'Physical Barrier' Sunscreens?

Physical Barrier Sunscreens, such as Badger's, create a protective film on the top of the skin's surface that reflects the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun before it can reach living tissue. The two most common ingredients in physical barrier type sunblocks are zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Badger chose to use zinc oxide because it was determined that it was the safest & most effective choice, and it has been used effectively and safely for hundreds of years.

Ultraviolet light is composed of three wavelength bands: UVA, UVB and UVC. Only UVA and UVB can reach the earth's surface. The good news is that Badger Sunscreen can block both the UVA and UVB rays.

Since this amazing sunblock is in the spectrum of protection that can block UVC light it wouldn't be a bad idea for pilots and astronauts to use it, since they are exposed to harmful UVC rays.
